IFYE Living Learning Community

Creating Home Through a Collective

While community development among students can take place through coursework, it is often bolstered through the interactions that happen beyond the classroom. Students participating in the Indigenous First-Year Experience (IFYE) program are expected to join the IFYE Living Learning Community (LLC) where they will reside on the same floor as one another along with peer mentors—creating an environment that merges knowledge acquisition with personal experiences.

The IFYE LLC will cultivate a community of support for students and host special events for tribally affiliated students. The community will also give students the opportunity to discuss and reflect on their learnings and experiences as they navigate their new home at UM.

Room Registration

Students who want to qualify to live in the IFYE LLC must be accepted into the IFYE program, enrolled in the IFYE seminar, and submit a Residence Hall housing application indicating their wish to live in the LLC. If you have not been accepted into the IFYE program through an application, Housing will remove you from the IFYE LLC.

Students accepted into the IFYE program will have until Friday, May 31 to select their room within the IFYE LLC.

Please refer to the UM Housing Indigenous First-Year LLC website for more information on housing application preferences and location. If you encounter any issues with your application, call UM Housing at (406) 243-2611 and they will be able to assist.

Residence Hall Payment

Residence Hall applications require a $300.00 prepayment for housing charges. For incoming first-year students encountering economic hardship, they can request the $300.00 prepayment to be deferred through UM Housing. Questions regarding the on-campus housing prepayment can be directed to UM Housing at (406) 243-2611 or housing@mso.umt.edu.
