Personal Summary

Hayumi Higuchi is interested in U. S. history, especially in race relations. After teaching Japanese language courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1980-1990), she returned to Japan and taught U. S. history at Kyoritsu Women’s University (1990-2003) and Senshu University (2003-March 2021). She is currently a professor emeritus at Senshu University. She has written, co-authored, edited, and translated (from English to Japanese) some dozen books in race relations in U. S. history as well as published many journal articles.
