Speech to Text Services
Speech-to-text services
Speech-to-text services accommodate individuals who do not use sign language and cannot access auditory information. The captioners produce a text of the spoken information, which is then displayed to students on their electronic devices.
Students receive a transcript of the spoken content. However, transcripts are not shared with other students.
Types of Speech-to-Text services:
- The C-Print captioning types the lecture material in a “meaning-for-meaning” format, not verbatim.
- Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) provides a written, verbatim account of what is being said in the classroom.
Service request timeline
We require the following sufficient time to respond and make provisions for speech-to-text services.
