Lessons in Eudaemonic Happiness for Graduate Students

Come again in Spring 2024!

For three semesters in a row, the Graduate School has enlisted the University of Montana's veteran counselor education professor, Dr. John Sommers-Flanagan, to lead graduate students in a happiness workshop, where students learn to implement positive psychology techniques in their daily lives.

Due to the positive feedback from the Spring 2023 session, we welcomed all graduate students to join the Fall 2023. Some individuals get hung up on the title, but think of “happiness” in its Aristotelian sense of “eudaimonia,” and you’re probably closer to the heart of what Dr. Sommers-Flanagan does in this workshop, which is grounded in decades of research on what gives people the resilience to take on tough challenges.

The purpose of this workshop is to offer a fun and interactive experience for graduate students to come away from with practical tools to promote positive mental health and coping during your studies.

The workshop will be held again in Spring 2024, stay tuned for more info!
