UM FLAT
About the FLAT
The University of Montana Forum for Living with Appropriate Technology (UM FLAT) is an intentional, living-learning community dedicated to everyday sustainability. Students gain experience in shared leadership, learn practical skills, and build a supportive and dynamic community. The UM FLAT provides a welcoming gathering space and actively engages University of Montana and Missoula through demonstration and educational programs.

Six UM students (grad and undergrad) live in the house. In exchange for rent, each member of the house contributes 10-15 hours per week to the FLAT's upkeep and ongoing activities. FLAT members also develop projects such as hosting workshops and designing, funding, and implementing appropriate and sustainable projects.
