EDSP 495 Student Teaching: Special Education

Course Description:

Offered autumn and spring. Special Education student teaching is the final course in the Special Education Endorsement Program. School professionals collaborate with university personnel to plan a progressive sequence of teaching responsibilities in a supervised special education classroom setting.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • a 2.75 or above GPA in the following areas: teaching major, teaching minor, and cumulative GPA
  • full admission to the Special Education Program
  • an approved Special Education Program Plan on file in the Curriculum and Instruction Department Office

If a program has been completed at another institution, a copy of the Montana Teaching License must be on file.

  • completion of all courses in special education minor
  • a minimum grade of B for all required Special Education course work
  • no “incompletes” in required course work
  • a minimum of nine credits in Special Education completed at The University of Montana.
  • complete a successful student teaching experience in major field with student teaching grades of B or above, or document at least one year of successful teaching experience in your major teaching area(s).
