Personal Summary

Tarn Ream has studied African (and African diaspora) dance and music for 30 years with teachers from Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Liberia, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Congo, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, South Africa, Haiti, and the U.S. She has been committed to sharing what she learns, and teaches community classes in Missoula, and around Montana, as well as directing and choreographing for the Unity Dance and Drum performance group. She also teaches music and dance for the Center for Music by People with Disabilities and the SPARK! programs. Tarn is the co-founder of Unity Dance and Drum, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education, performance, and workshops in African music and dance. Unity Dance and Drum is very active in local schools and organizations teaching culture, music, and dance to students, differently-abled people, and youth at risk. Unity Dance and Drum has been bringing various professional teachers of traditional African music and dance forms for workshops and presentations in Missoula for 30 years.
