Flagship Fund 2024
The 2024 Flagship Fund sought proposals for one-year grants of up to $10,000 to build the University’s internal capacity to better utilize generative artificial intelligence. Proposals aligned with one of the five broad AI pillars identified by the University: 1) curricular integration; 2) student support; 3) operational efficiency; 4) enrollment, marketing, and advancement; and 5) research and innovation. Preference was given to proposals that demonstrated cooperation across offices or areas of expertise, that benefit cohorts rather than individuals, and that carry a broad impact.
UM faculty and staff submitted proposals by March 1, 2024. The Flagship Fund Advisory Group – a group of UM faculty, staff, and students – reviewed the proposals and met with proposal authors in late March for discussion. The Advisory Group made its investment recommendations to President Bodnar and Provost Lawrence in early April, and leadership finalized the decisions in late April.
