OVERVIEW

The goal of this training is to discuss behavioral issues as they relate to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias as well as reducing and managing dementia related challenging behaviors.

Training Objectives:

  • Understand every individual’s dementia is different.
  • Recognize the most common behavioral changes experienced by dementia patients.
  • Deliver the best quality care to dementia patients through communication skills.

 About the Instructors:

  • Vicki Schmall, PhD – Executive Director and Gerontology and Training Specialist with aging concerns in West Linn, Oregon. She is also professor emeritus of Oregon State University where she worked for nearly 25 years – serving as the director of the OSU program on Gerontology and also as a Gerontology Specialist in the OSU extension service.
