History Department Students Find Great Success in 2023-2024

As is often the case, History majors were very successful during the 2023-2024 school year.  Here are some highlights from our students:
 
Torrie Cooney won the President’s Outstanding Senior Award for History, the department’s highest honor for graduating seniors.
 
Daniel Martin received a fellowship from the Franke Global Leadership Initiative to study history abroad at University College Cork in Cork, Ireland for Fall 2024. 
 
PhD candidate Michael Larmann and incoming PhD student Cole Costello were awarded Bertha Morton Scholarships, UM’s most prestigious honor for graduate students.
 
Kym MacEwan, PhD student in history, recently published a Review of The North American West in the Twenty-First Century in Annals of Wyoming: The Wyoming History Journal, Winter 2023 
 
Tatyana Rohrer was awarded the Helen J. Olson Scholarship
 
Daniel Martin was awarded The Professor Robert O. Lindsay Scholarship for an Outstanding History Major
 
Samuel Jackson was awarded a Professor Robert O. Lindsay Scholarship
 
Cate Davick was awarded the Jules A. Karlin History Scholarship for Juniors
 
Paige Moriarty was awarded the Jules A. Karlin History Scholarship for Seniors
 
Taryn Thompson was awarded the Angelina Oberto Parsons Scholarship
 
Ben Williams was awarded the Harold E. Blinn Scholarship in History
 
Nate Hansen was awarded the Carman Skari Scholarship in History
 
Ro O’Mary and Claire Broling were awarded Paul Lauren Human Rights Scholarship
 
Maria Bay and Abe Malley were awarded the Edward Earl Bennet Memorial Scholarship
 
Henry Young was awarded the Scott Allen Meyer Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in American History
