Community College Administrator Program (CCAP)

Overview

The Community College Administrator Program (CCAP) is a four-week program of study for higher education administrators from post-secondary vocational and technical institutions in foreign countries.

The program is administered by the University of Montana's (UM) Global Engagement Office, Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center, and Missoula College on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Each CCAP consists of a four-week virtual academic symposium where participants learn about the history, major policies, and theoretical frameworks that have guided the development of U.S. community colleges. Participants then engage in an intensive three-week academic seminar at UM-Missoula College to learn more about how community colleges in Montana operate in practice. The seminar includes one- or two-day visits to other two-year campuses in Montana. This highlights how institutions of varying sizes and in different cities meet the local workforce demand of their communities through innovative educational programs. This is followed by a one-week executive dialogue in Missoula, Montana, where participants meet higher education leaders and policymakers, obtain an overview of the Montana University System, and make short visits to colleges in the system.

About CCAP

In 2024, the University of Montana - Missoula College will host a cohort of administrators and government officials from Vietnam.

While at the University of Montana-Missoula College, participants will take part in presentations, round table discussions, and one-on-one exchanges with their counterparts. University of Montana-Missoula College and University of Montana administrators participate in each CCAP program, engaging in a genuine academic and cultural exchange with our international guests. CCAP participants also have the opportunity to explore the academic programs we offer -and learn about our extensive student services. Each cohort gains an understanding of how we meet our educational mission and help promote economic development of our communities. Subsequently, each cohort is able to adapt elements of our system and strategies to its institutions in ways that further empower those systems. Each cohort maintains active relationships with UM as part of the ongoing process of exchange envisioned by the U.S. Department of State.
