Proposal Evaluation Process

Proposals will be evaluated and ranked by the International Council based on the criteria below.  The Council will send recommended proposals to the Provost for approval. 

Note: Actual COIL activity may vary from activity outlined in proposal. 

Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Is the COIL activity clearly described, and will it effectively connect students from the two institutions?
  • Will the COIL activity support course learning objectives while also enabling students to examine the topic(s) from different cultural and societal perspectives?
  • Does the COIL activity provide for experiential education and virtual collaboration among the students?
  • Grant awardees must agree to:
    • submit a report to the Global Engagement Office upon the conclusion of their COIL module providing basic details about their collaboration, e.g. what went well, what was a challenge both for you and your partner collaborator.
    • submit evaluation results from student participants about their COIL experience in your module
    • serve as a mentor to other faculty/instructors considering utilizing the COIL methodology
