About Us

Birds are some of nature’s most magnificent and fascinating organisms. With more than 10,000 species globally, birds play a significant role as indicators of the health of the world’s ecosystems. The mission of ASC is to promote informed decision-making based on ecological research the collection, synthesis, and communication of knowledge about birds and their ecosystems for the conservation of natural resources. We draw our approach from the field of conservation biology, examining the impact of human activities on the ecology of avian species, communities, and their ecosystems.

Since August 2013, the ASC has been administratively housed in the Wildlife Biology Program and supported by the Department of Ecosystem and Conservation Sciences  within the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation.
