Personal Summary

Averi Jones is a recent graduate of the Anthropology PhD program where her dissertation research focused on skeletal traumas and tactics of abuse related to interpersonal violence. She is originally from Jacksonville, Florida, where she received her Associate of Arts from St. Johns River State College and her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Community Leadership from the University of North Florida. Her undergraduate research examined bystander apathy and leadership strategies to improve bystander intervention rates. She later attended the University of Northern Iowa where she earned a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Development and completed her Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. Her MA research identified causes for employee turnover at nonprofit organizations, particularly in direct service staff, and discussed strategies for improving retention rates.

In the fall, she will be joining Eastern New Mexico University as an Assisant Professor of Anthropology and as the Forensic Science Program Coordinator. She plans to continue her research on interpersonal violence by continuing to build collaborative partnerships with domestic violence and sexual violence support services centers. Outside of her busy schedule, she enjoys yoga, paddle boarding, being in nature, and spending time with her cat, Eleanor.
