Emeritus- Level II Proposal for Board of Regents Approval

To be eligible for emeritus status, a retiring faculty member must have:

  • been employed by the University of Montana for no less than ten years, and
  • maintained a record of excellence in teaching, research/creativity, and service.

To nominate a retiring faculty member:

  1. Work with the college/school dean to make a recommendation to the Provost.
  2. The Provost will then make a recommendation to the President.
  3. The President will send the recommendation to the Board of Regents.

This is a unique Level II Proposal which requires only an item template form.

For more information please see Montana Board of Regents' Policy 702.7 and UM Policy 101.1 regarding emeriti procedures.

A sample emeritus Level II Proposal is provided to the right. Contact Jasmine Zink Laine (243-6135) should you have any questions.
