It is the policy of The University of Montana to work with governmental and private sector groups for the purpose of encouraging, fostering, and contributing to economic development in Montana. The three prime means for making this contribution are:

  1. Promoting research by faculty and staff that results in products, processes, or services that are then transferred for commercialization and use to benefit Montana:
  2. Offering first options and more favorable terms to Montana based companies as recipients of University-transferred technology; and
  3. Making available the personnel and physical resources of the University to assist in the development and expansion of both for-profit and not-for-profit businesses enterprises within the State.
