Welcome!

We are excited that you want to learn more about First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) at the University of Montana! For many years FIGs have helped students succeed in the classroom, get a head start on their majors, and build social networks that connect them to the UM and Missoula communities. A FIG is a pre-packaged group of high-demand freshman courses that students take together with up to 20 of their classmates.

Whether new Freshmen are just exploring a particular field of study and completing general education credits, or have declared a specific major, FIGs help students find their niche at UM!

If you are a new incoming freshman for Autumn 2011, or a parent of a new freshman, please see the "For New Freshmen!" page to learn more and to register!

Explore the links on the left for more information about all the specific FIGs we offer as well as important details on the registration process. Be sure to contact us between 9am and 5pm weekdays with any questions! To see a list of all the FIGs available for Fall 2011, click here.
