Personal Summary

Aneta Panusz, native of Poland, studied music from an early age and completed a master’s program in Music Theory at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.  Arriving in Missoula, she began teaching privately and accompanying at the University of Montana. Awarded a Teaching Assistantship in 2007, she resumed her studies, earning an MM degree in piano performance.  Since 2007, she has intermittently taught both Theory and Piano courses at the UM School of Music, most recently as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Courses taught have included Aural Perception I-IV, Forms and Analysis, Music Theory, Music Fundamentals, Intermediate Piano, Group Piano, and Piano 100. In addition, Prof. Panusz has, since 2009, been a fixture at the UM School of Music’s annual Piano Camp, teaching both theory and piano to aspiring young pianists.

Prof. Panusz maintains a very busy schedule, both teaching and performing. She has maintained a private piano studio since 2003 and guided several of her students through the Royal Conservatory Music Program in both piano and theory. Prof. Panusz has served as the String Orchestra of the Rockies principal harpsichordist since 2008. Over the years, she has performed with many UM music faculty, guest artists, and students and most enjoys collaborating in chamber music projects. Her professional performance history includes projects with the Cascade String Quartet, the Bitterroot Baroque, and the Missoula Chamber Collective.

“Jan Smeterlin: Pianist Rediscovered,” her recently completed biography, co-authored with Prof. Andrzej KucybaƂa, will be published in the spring of 2024 in Poland.
