A blog is a web site created and managed with a simple and specialized content management tool.
You can use blogs to communicate news and events, share opinions, generate discussion, chronicle projects and more. Blog entries appear in reverse chronological order. Typically in a blog, readers can leave comments, making them an effective forum for online conversation.
Blogs also generate RSS feeds, which allows readers to subscribe to the content in an RSS feed reader, a web browser, an email client, in OneStop or in other web portal and social networking sites. Subscribing to blog content allows readers to be notified when new content is available, and to access that content without directly visiting the blog site.
The IT Web Technology Services group hosts and supports WordPress blogging software for use by campus departments and organizations.
A Wiki is a collaborative web content creation and editing tool. Wikis enable users to do more than simply read web content. Wikis provide a means for users to create new content and edit existing content.
The most famous wiki is Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that contains more than 10 million articles written and edited in multiple languages by volunteers from around the world.
Wikis are useful any time you are trying to organize information between groups of people. They are ideal for planning, documentation and group projects.
