Web Technologies

Web tools

The Web Technologies Group supports several web tools for the benefit of the campus community and users. Some tools require that the website is hosted on the central web server.

Calendar

We support a web calendar tool called JCal that integrates with the Mambo content management system and is used for University events and news. The tool produces an RSS feed that provides content on the UM homepage and in OneStop. University Relations manages access and content on the calendaring system.

Surveys

Select Survey makes it easy to develop, administer and analyze surveys on the web. The tool can also be used for general web forms. Contact us to get started with Select Survey.

Web traffic analysis

We support a central web site traffic reporting tool that can be used by departments to gain insights into the effectiveness of your website. Sites must be hosted on the central web server to take advantage of the tool.

Google search appliance (new)

We support a Google Mini web search appliance that enhances search results at both the University and departmental level. Sites must be hosted on the central web server to take advantage of the tool.

A-Z index (new)

University departments can now apply an A-Z index management tool to departmental websites to enhance site navigation. Sites must be hosted on the central web server to take advantage of the tool.

iTunes U (coming soon)

Apple’s iTunes U is an externally-hosted tool for managing and distributing academic digital audio and video content. iTunes U is built on the same technology as the iTunes Music Store. View iTunes U at Stanford University.
