BN101 - Banner Basics (2 hours)
*** Required to obtain a Banner account *** Designed for all new Banner users, this hands on training (HOT) includes a general overview presentation, followed by a “tour of Banner” and class time practice. It will cover introductory material such as setting up Banner access, the elements of the Banner menus and screens (or forms), basic navigation and querying techniques using SPAIDEN (General Person form), and creating your personal “My Banner”. Emphasis is on Banner navigation, not specific Banner student or finance training. Additional classes are offered each semester for more specific Banner training.

BNFG105 - Banner Grants Query (2 hours)
This course is geared toward faculty and staff who are responsible for querying grant activity within Banner. Users will learn how to locate their grant accounts, inception-to-date expense activity, and detail financial transactions associated with their grants. This class is designed for query purposes only and does not cover grant management policies.

FINDW101 - FINDW Fundamentals (2 hours)
*** Completion of class is required to obtain a FinDW account. *** Need quick up-to-date access to your financial reports without having to log into Banner? Then, check out the Finance Data Warehouse! A simple MS Access interface has been developed that features simple “point and click” financial reports. Reports include grant-inception-to-date reports, operating statements, transaction detail reports, and various general ledger reports. Come to class to learn the basics. Following a brief overview and instructor-led tour of the reports, students will get time for hands on training (HOT) using FINDW.

Banner Finance Query

Several key Banner Finance forms enable faculty and staff responsible for monitoring financial activity of an Index Code to query on available budgeted balances, current fund balances, and detail transaction activity. Banner Finance query training manuals are available for download at the Banner Support Website. For specific instruction on Banner Finance query forms, please contact your fund accountant.

Banner Invoice Entry and Query

For additional information for Banner Finance users who are responsible for paying vendor bills for their department, an online training video is available at the Training link on the Business Services website.

Banner Student Query

Several key Banner Student forms enable advisors and academic staff to query a students major, class schedule, academic history, grades, and advising PIN number. Banner Student query training manuals are available for download at the Banner Support website. NOTE: The Registrar's Office will provide assistance with Banner Student query forms on an "as-needed" basis only. For more information, please call the Registrar's Office at 243-2412.

Travel at The University of Montana

The UM Travel Guidelines provides information about UM travel policies, forms and procedures. The Guidelines are located online at the Business Services website. For additional information, contact the Travel Desk at 243-2113.

Note about CyberBear for Faculty and Advisors

CyberBear provides an easy and friendly way for faculty and advisors to access student information that is stored in the Banner system – all via the web! No Banner account is necessary. All you need is a CyberBear User ID and PIN. It's so easy, training really isn't necessary. For more information, log-in to CyberBear and click on "CyberBear Instructions " in the Faculty and Advisor Resources section.
