Sysgroup email list

The purpose of the Sysgroup email list is to facilitate the exchange of information among UM campus system administrators. Information Technology is the owner of this mailing list and is responsible for approving membership requests and managing the mailing list.

Information posted to this mailing list is highly technical, involving departmental and IT-managed systems and networking information. Because this information is sometimes sensitive in nature and may involve IT security issues, membership in the Sysgroup mailing list is limited to full-time University employees and students who have a system administration role. Therefore, IT carefully screens membership requests to assure that only appropriate personnel participate.

To request subscription to the Sysgroup email list, system administrators should send an e-mail message to "owner-sysgroup@lists.umt.edu" and include the following information in the body of the message:

• Name
• Department
• Job Title
• Phone
• E-mail address

If approved, the list program software sends a welcome message that includes important listserv procedural information. Members should save this message for future reference.
