SPSS and AMOS software distribution
Information Technology provides annual licensing for SPSS statistical software and AMOS, an add-on module for SPSS. SPSS is a comprehensive software package that includes data management, statistics, and reporting capabilities. The UM site license includes: SPSS Statistics Base, SPSS Advanced Statistics, and SPSS Regressions. AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structures) is a structural equation modeling program that, while it is a separate installation, is launched from within SPSS. Additional modules may be ordered separately through IBM by your department.
SPSS for employee use
UM carries annual maintenance on network licenses for teaching and research purposes. Supported versions are 21 and 22. If you are using an earlier version, we encourage you to upgrade to the most current version which is available on our server.
At UM, two options are available for obtaining the software each contract year:
- Key license server access: Software is installed on a server and is available to users through the campus network on University-owned computers
- Stand-alone license access: Software is installed on University-owned laptops for extended research assignments or off-campus use
Please contact your departmental technical support staff to determine your best option and obtain assistance with the licensing and download process.
SPSS for student use
While our license agreement does not allow for installation on personal computers, student use of SPSS is available in computer labs across campus. IT manages the University Center 225 computer lab, one of the labs with SPSS installed on some of the computers.
Additionally, the UM Bookstore currently sells a 12 month SPSS Premium Academic Version 22 student-only grad pack subscription for $69.
AMOS for employee use
UM has a limited number of individual (named) AMOS licenses for AY 14 that have already been purchased for specific UM faculty and researchers. Please contact your departmental technical support staff if you have questions about obtaining AMOS software.
