Managing junk email in UMConnect

In UMConnect there are two junk email filters: one that is controlled by Microsoft for the entire system and a secondary filter that you control for your specific account.

Your personal junk mail filter offers several options for determining how your mailbox handles junk mail. Below are steps for how to manage junk mail in your UMConnect mail box. Depending on your browser, you can manage your junk mail from your Inbox and/or from the Junk E-Mail tab.

Managing junk email from your inbox

In the message list of your Inbox (Note: This method is not available when your Inbox is arranged by conversation. In conversation mode this option is available under Actions):

  • Right click on the message to select it and from the menu that displays scroll to Junk E-Mail.
  • Your options are:
    • Add Sender to Blocked Senders List
    • Add Sender to Safe Senders List
    • Add Sender's Domain to Safe Senders List
  • You can also move the message to a different folder:
    • Right click on the message to select it and from the menu that displays select Move to Folder
    • Select the folder and click Move
    • OR you can select Create New Folder... to create a folder and move the message to that location.

In the Junk E-Mail folder, from above the message display area:

  • Click on the Envelope icon
    • A Mark as not Junk dialog box will display indicating that the message will be moved to the Inbox.
    • If you want to Always trust messages from this email address, click in the box.
    • Click OK
  • Click on the Move icon
    • Your options are to move the message to: Junk E-mail, Inbox, Move to Folder, Copy to Folder. Selecting Junk E-mail or Inbox does not add the address to the safe senders list.
