Campus units (department or equivalent) may sponsor wireless access to the campus network for designated campus visitors. Requests can be made for individuals or for groups (e.g. conferences or other large meetings varying in time length).
- A "Sponsored Visitor Wireless Access Request Form" must be completed by a sponsor to request visiting user access. These requests must be made three (3) days in advance of the desired start date to accommodate processing time.
- The sponsor will be notified of the visitor's wireless user name and password via e-mail.
- Two options are available for connecting to the University's wireless network.
- The visitor may install "virtual private network" (VPN) software on their computer(s) which ensures that all communication between the user's wireless device and the wireless access point (WAP) are encrypted, and thus safe from being intercepted by other users. VPN software can be downloaded or picked up by visiting IT Central, Social Science 120.
- WPA2 Enterprise, used for more advanced authentication schemes, is available internally on newer laptops and other devices and does not require a software download. Configurations Instructions...
