Performance Review Overview | Performance Review Eligibility

  • What is the Performance Review cycle?
The Performance Review cycle begins July 1 and ends June 30 of each year.
Performance Reviews will be based on work performed during that time period regardless of employment schedule. Example: 10-month academic year.
  • Are Performance Reviews mandatory?
Yes, for all staff meeting criteria specified in MUS Staff Compensation Guidelines.
    Employees must be:
Non-temporary employees (.4 FTE or greater)
Non-union or belong to the MPEA/Laborers Union
       Individuals who supervise eligible staff
  • Are supervisors required to review eligible staff?
Yes, supervisors must provide a Performance Review to eligible staff.
Supervisors must complete a Performance Review form (the Supervisor Review form must be attached for those individuals who have supervisory/managerial responsibilities). Schedule a meeting to thoroughly discuss the employee’s performance. Submit the signed form(s) to HRS by August 1.
  • Are establishing Performance Objectives required as part of the process?
While not centrally mandated, supervisors may require the employees in their area of influence to establish Performance Objectives.
