University of Montana is offering online short courses in nonprofit
administration specifically designed for busy professionals! Practicing
administrators and others interested in building skills relating
to nonprofit administration are encouraged to register.
| PSC 483:
Grantwriting (FULL) teaches students
how to research funding sources using both online and print
resources and how to draft organized, thoughtful and well-written
grant proposals. This course is available for one credit and
starts the week of May 12, 2008, and concludes
the week of June 21, 2008. Instructor: Cindy Briggs, Ph.D.,

483: Strategic Planning and Leadership (FULL) introduces
strategic planning--a process by which staff members can bring their
shared vision of success into being. Topics include leadership,
stakeholder analysis, mission/vision/values and SWOT. This course
is available for one credit and starts the week of October 8, 2007,
and concludes the week of November 18, 2007. Instructor: Jesse Munro,
Adjunct Instructor in Political Sciences at The University of Montana.

explores the components inherent in creating and maintaining a governing
body that promotes a healthy and successful nonprofit organization.
This course is available for one credit and starts the week of January
28, 2008, and concludes the week of March 8, 2008. Instructor: Terry
Profota, Adjunct Professor in the College of Business at Montana
State University and president of Sage Solutions consulting.

483: Fundraising (FULL) explores the possibilities
and challenges of raising money for nonprofit organizations, including
smaller donation drives and larger capital campaigns. Students will
explore creative and practical solutions for raising money. This
course is available for one credit and starts the week of March
10, 2008, and concludes the week of April 19, 2008. Instructor:
Cindy Briggs, Ph.D., Educational Leadership and Organizational
Development; and Executive Director of the Susan B. Komen Foundation,
Montana Chapter.

483: Financial Management (FULL) explores special
issues related to nonprofit financials including budgeting, reporting,
tax issues, and accounting, focusing primarily on financial statements,
continuous budgeting, and executive processes. This course is available
for one credit and starts the week of April 21, 2008, and condludes
the week of May 31, 2008. Instructor: Lisa Swallow, Business Technology
Faculty, University of Montana-College of Technology.
Registration
Information
The
fee for each course is $100 for members of the Montana Nonprofit
Association and $125 for non-members. There is a 10 percent discount
for students who register at the same time for all five courses.
Students who wish to receive one undergraduate or graduate UM credit
pay a $135 credit recording fee per course in addition to the fee
listed above.

Refunds
will be issued for cancellations received up to two weeks before
the start of each course. No refunds will be issued after that time;
however, substitutions are welcome.

Completion in Nonprofit Administration.
