Legacy Lives On - A Tribute to John and Frank Craighead
The
2008 annual conference
of the Raptor Research Foundation is in the home community of John
Craighead. Raptors of the Rockies is the conference host, with co-host
The University of Montana. The “legacy lives on” theme challenges
attendees to take the next bold steps in the spirit of America 's
two pioneering biologists and falconers.
Conference
highlights include a dedication to the Craigheads, a workshop on
the new book Raptor Research and Management Techniques ,
a symposium on Short-eared Owls and Northern Harriers, plus a Saturday
“Raptors in Education Symposium,” where teachers will be encouraged
to attend. Rounding out the program are raptor papers, poster sessions
and three plenary speakers. Brian Woodbridge personifies the Craighead
legacy with his groundbreaking findings on Swainson's Hawks. The
University of Montana professors Dr. Ken Dial and Dr. Erick Greene
will share their cuttingedge work on evolution of bird flight and
avian communication
respectively.
