Call for Courses

Thank you for your interest in teaching a course through the School of Extended & Lifelong Learning! There are various ways to do so. The information provided in each link below gives step-by-step instructions for proposing a course. Select the link below to the term or type of course you would like to propose. A description of the term/course type is provided next to each link.

Online Courses for Fall/Spring Semesters - These courses are academic credit, online, and offered in UM's regular Fall and Spring semesters. UM faculty/departments should follow the information provided here. 

Summer Semester - These courses are academic credit, face-to-face or online, and offered in UM's regular Summer semester. UM faculty/departments should follow the information provided here. 

Wintersession - These courses are academic credit, face-to-face or online, and offered in UM's regular Wintersession term. UM faculty/departments should follow the information provided here.

Sponsored Courses - These courses are offered through UMExtended Courses and represent a partnership with various UM departments and sponsoring agencies. These courses are available for academic credit and are designed for teacher recertification, professional development, and personal enrichment. Students are not required to be formally admitted to UM in order to receive academic credit. Courses take place throughout the year and are not bound by UM semesters.

Non-Credit Professional Development Courses - These non-credit courses are offered through UMExtended Courses. They offer an opportunity to foster exploration and learning without the pressure of grades. Courses are intended for professional development and personal enrichment. They are usually short and focused on a single topic. Students are not required to be formally admitted to UM. Courses take place throughout the year and are not bound by UM semesters.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) - The CEU is a nationally recognized system of recording and recognizing participants in non-credit, professional, educational courses, programs and other activities. Non-Credit Courses (above) may be offered for CEUs. Instructors should first follow the instructions at the link above before submitting the course for CEU approval. For non-credit courses offered by organizations outside of UM, follow the instructions for CEU approval provided here.
