This teaching module was presented to the superintendent of schools in Libby. He supported offering the module as a semester long class elective and selected a teacher to lead the class. New equipment needed to be secured so various grants were written and contacts established to purchase the equipment. A collaboration with a film media center was set up to train the teacher in documentary filmmaking and offer expertise as needed.
The teacher then elaborated on weekly syllabi and created more detailed lesson plans.
The grand finale for the class will include a screening and an Oscar Night in Libby to celebrate the completion of the films. Parents and students will be honorary guests at the events.
